2019 Magnolia Run and Walk for Epilepsy

Sprinting for Seizures

Sprinting for Seizures - Seven Years Strong - Please Help Us Keep it Going!

Dear Family and Friends -

It's that time of year (again) and we are officially kicking off our 7th year as a team in the Magnolia Run for Epilepsy!

For those that are new to our cause - we run every year for two incredible (not so little) kids - Ansley Spinks and Scottie McCray. With both of them in their teenage years, the battle conitnues and the importance of this event and the funs raised by it give us even more motivation to find answers and programs to support them!

The mission of the Epilepsy Foundation of Georgia is to lead the fight to overcome the challenges of living with epilepsy and to accelerate therapies to stop seizures, find cures, and save lives. 100% of the money raised goes to supporting the EFGA programming and services.

Please help us reach our team goal of $10,000 and participate with us in the run/walk on August 17th (Note - new location this year on The Green Space in front of Building 4 at Concourse Parkway — Directly under the King & Queen Buildings)!!

We will also be doing additional fundraising again at the various McCray Establishments...more to come on that shortly!

Much Love and Many Thanks!

Facts about Epilepsy:

  • 65 MILLION: Number of people around the world who live with epilepsy.
  • 3.4 MILLION: Number of people in the United States who have epilepsy.
  • 1 IN 26 people in the United States will develop epilepsy at some point in their lifetime.
  • 6 OUT OF 10: Number of people with epilepsy where the cause is unknown.
  • Anyone can develop epilepsy. Seizures start for the first time in people over age 65 almost as often as it does in children. Seizures in the elderly are often the after effect of other health problems like stroke and heart disease.
  • Epilepsy is NOT rare. There are more than twice as many people with epilepsy in the U.S. as the number of people with cerebral palsy (500,000), muscular dystrophy (250,000), multiple sclerosis (350,000), and cystic fibrosis (30,000) combined. Epilepsy can occur as a single condition or may be seen with other conditions affecting the brain, such as cerebral palsy, intellectual disability, autism, Alzheimer's disease, and traumatic brain injury.
